LO5 & 3

The first steps of project week involved getting to know each other as a group a little more, especially because we were not initially close friends from the start. We came together as a group as we were all in agreement with wanting to do a mixture of activities and services during the project week. We discussed what options we had in terms of activities, such as biking, snorkeling, hiking, etc. We were also keen on working with a service during our trip, and explored the different options available. The outcome of our planning resulted in a week in Vietnam, hopefully able to kayak and raft into a cave and explore the cave as our activity, work with Blue Dragon GC for our service and thinking of participating in cooking classes as the creativity. Thankfully, we didn’t face many challenges agreeing on what we want to do for project week, which made it a lot easier to collaborate with everyone. I believe we were able to be efficient in our planning because we researched quite a bit on the different options we had and how previous groups have planned their project week in Vietnam.

Another reason why we were able to efficiently pick Vietnam as the country to go to is because one of our team member is a chair for the Blue Dragon GC, and since we already agreed on doing a mixture of service and activities for project week, picking the GC first was our method for picking Vietnam. It was helpful that we had a member of the GC group in our project week group because it meant the rest of us had a primary resource for understanding the goals of the GC and so our research was more efficient. Picking out the service first allowed us to ensure we were all in agreement with helping that specific GC, that we were all interested and okay with going to Vietnam. Our next steps are to search for a provider for the activity we want to do, and obtain approval from the teachers and see the next steps from the school as well.
