EE Reflective Conversation 1

I am genuinely interested in my EE topic, as learning more about my Chinese heritage and history has always peaked my curiosity. In our first meeting, my supervisor and I discussed the initial research I had done, agreeing on the two possible ways of structuring the causes of the war – grouping it by military position of the two parties vs degree of popularity of the two parties by 1945, or grouping it by KMT vs. CCP. Additionally, my supervisor advised that I have a substantial portion of my EE dedicated to why the actual events in the war (1945-49), and in the long term, analyse the original, content and purpose of 3-4 sources, as well as include historiography in my essay to show the values and limitations of the sources for my EE question. The next step for me is to research more into the actual events in the war, then restructure my thesis around my new findings.

  1. Hi Alice,
Thanks for posting your reflection. You’ve certainly chosen an interesting topic; I’m happy to see you’re so passionate about it! In future, please ensure you place the word count of your reflection in brackets at the end of your paragraph. Do let me or your supervisor know if you have any questions. Good luck!
