Thank you Ears of East members ! I’ve just listened to this and I would love to share it with my G10 English students who have been reading Fahrenheit 451 and discussing the ways in which the inaction and apathy of the characters in this futuristic world pave the way for authoritarian forces to take hold. We’ve been linking our exploration to the protests today and the G10s will be really interested to hear your thoughts. I really liked, in particular, the ways in which you considered different perspectives on the role of social media, media reporting on events, and the ways in which seeing the video of the attack on Christian Cooper puts us in an entirely different position compared to reading about it. Thank you for sharing your deeply thoughtful and well-balanced opinions and perspectives – I hope lots more people get to hear this too!

Thank you, Ears of East. I have been discussing the BLM movement with my G9’s for the past few lessons. They’ve been very thoughtful and mature about the events taking place around the world. I will be sharing your podcast with them in lesson time on Friday so that they can hear from fellow students in Grades 10 and 11, too. Perhaps some of them will be encouraged to join you next year when they are also in G10.

    Keep fighting the good fight!!

Thank you, Ears for East, for your exploration of the issues of power and justice and the interplay between belief and action, in the context of BLM and recent events in USA and around the world. These issues impact us all and deserve our attention!
