Medusa, a poem by Carol Ann Duffy, is a dramatic monologue where we learn about the character of the speaker. For instance, Duffy describes the character as a bride in the beginning however, near the end of the poem, the character is described as a Gorgon. This states the jealousy and how the character was consumed by jealousy. In addition, when we are introduced to the character by a tricolon.

The poem reminds me of the greek myth of Medusa. By using intertextuality, Duffy is able to express the basic feeling of the Medusa and add to the story. Throughout the poem, Medusa gets increasingly angry. We can see this happen through the increasing rule of three.
