Because we are doing music from different countries, Marimbas allowed me to experience and understand the cultural context of marimbas as an instrument and also how music differs between countries. This is significant as it allows me to learn more about the world and the global significance of music as a medium for cultural expression. During December, the HS Marimba group did a recorded performance where we presented music from a variety of countries which created awareness for the unique cultures in the world.

After the recording session, I realized the importance of the use of music as an expression of culture which allowed me to truly appreciate music from outside my cultural background.
