At the beginning of research, I wanted research into memory reconstruction and its real-world applications. I decided to focus on the reliability of witness testimonies and their implications after researching further into it outside of class. I chose the topic of reliability of child eye witness testimonies as Developmental Psychology is an area of Psychology I find interesting. I debated changing my research question and rather investage how the age of children influences memory reliability however I kept my original research question as it means there is a broader field of research I can explore. One challenge I faced with research is there are copious studies conducted into this area, so filtering the studies to find the most relevant will be difficult. Many studies conducted into this area of psychology are conducted decades ago and may not be relevant today due to developments in this field, meaning it will be important to select the most up-to-date research.
