CAS Demiurge Final Reflections

Reflection 1 – I feel that I have further achieved LO1 -able to undertake a thoughtful self-evaluation- as after receiving feedback on my work, I understand where I went wrong in my narrative structure, context and thus try to work upon it, in the Demiurge club.It has also helped me understand divergent writing styles, for example, Eijah’s poem which i thought at first was quite strange, after reading it I understood a different writing style and the way a poem was used to explore dark, heavy matter. Demiurge has helped me hone my skills as a writer to a great extent, as an aspiring journalist it has allowed me to explore various writing styles while also learning from others. It has allowed me to achieve LO2 –  be willing to become involved in unfamiliar environments and situations- as I helped with the editing process, even though I am quite uncomfortable with selecting work and deciding whether it should be worked upon or not. I also feel I have achieved LO6 -develop awareness and responsibility towards a shared humanity- as in my writings, which were once on topics such as age and nature, have now become slightly political, on the inclusion of individuals of the LGBTQ and the advocation of mental health. In all, the magazine has helped me understand how literature can be deeply connected to sexuality. I remember after reading a students work on LGBTQ community, I was awestruck by the prose as well as the tone of the monologue, it was a political yet apolitical. I understood that various people have can various opinions on topics ranging from death to mental health, as Demiurge gave me a peek at these multidunious views, helping me understand that there is a sense of ‘shared humanity’ , a sense of oneness through the discourse, debate.
