Since the start of 2024, GEP has been working on installing free menstrual products in bathrooms around UWC. The process was very lengthy and we faced many challenges along the way. Whilst we were looking into this idea we came into contact with LUÜNA. LUÜNA is a business based in Hong Kong that provides menstrual products and dispensers, they have worked on similar causes around Asia and have installed their products and dispensers in other schools. As their mission aligned closely with ours, providing menstrual products to all, we decided to go forward with the implementation of pads in bathrooms using LUÜNA products. At the start of the school year, we were able to implement these dispensers in 7 bathrooms around the school. On Thursday the 23rd of January, Olivia Cotes James, CEO of LUÜNA was able to attend one of our meetings. In this meeting, we were able to show Olivia the dispensers and further discuss how we might be able to expand our initiative to more bathrooms with more products like tampons. Olivia also discussed her journey setting up LUÜNA and the positive impacts she has seen from this. This was an incredible opportunity to finally put a face to what has made it possible for us to kickstart this initiative. We hope to be able to continue to implement free menstrual products in more bathrooms around the school.
