This session was dedicated to bringing down plants from the rooftop garden all the way down to the infant school gardens in preparation for our collaboration next week. We will be collaborating with two K1 classes next week to help restore and add fresh new plants to their garden projects. After making a plan on how we would organise our session next week, we quickly dispersed throughout the garden to find the best plants for the infants schoolers. The surplus of basil we had transplanted proved to be a large contributor to our pile. Then, we wheeled them down the arduous journey of crossing the third floor bridge to the infant school.
When we got down to the garden area, our next task was to split the plants evenly between the two groups. We wanted each group to have approximately similar chances to interact with each unique plants, so we ensured that we group had at least one pot of each type of plant we brought down. Quickly enough, we sorted through the pile of greenery into two distinct groups ready to be planted.
In addition, we checked out the Middle School garden as the service staff had contacted us to help provide some plants for the MS urban gardening activity. Since we had expended most of our plants with the infants and the half of the garden they wanted us to fill up was rather barren, it seems that we’ll be busy the next couple of weeks to restock on our stash of plants.
After coming back up to the sixth floor, we managed to just squeeze enough time in to transplant 15 basil. Overall, it was a great session. Still loads more to come, and next weeks collaboration with the infant schoolers should prove to be an interesting change of pace!
