Healthy Living – November

27th November

GOAL:  To improve my skills in badminton and use it to give me exercise and a way to improve my overall well-being.

This month in Badminton I have been focusing on improving my skills so that I can try and get into the team. I have signed up for try-outs and am quite nervous as I normally don’t partake in team sports as I feel like if I make a mistake and cause the team to lose I will blame myself. Since this is a risk for me, I decided to do badminton for the reason that even though it is a team sport, I still have the chance to do it individually or with one other person in doubles. I also heard that at this stage, many tournaments or matches are friendly and winning or losing doesn’t matter in particular, so I’m feeling a little more confident in my decision.

I have been confirming my knowledge of basic techniques with my coach outside of school because if I get in the team I am going to only be playing in school so that I have enough time to balance my time for studies and sports well. At the moment, I am able to use all the techniques during a game, but I still need to improve my ability to quickly move from one place to another so that I can apply all the skills I learn well.

As a result of this, in January after the school break is over, I am going to try-out for the team and hopefully, get in.

More next month 🙂
