The LGBT community has been a prevalent topic of discussion throughout the entirety of my high school education and has always been of interest to me. Thus, I was really keen to include it in my EE as I know I will enjoy researching about it. The rights and treatment of the LGBT community is really important to me and I recognise that they often face discrimination, and I want to learn more about the cause of this. In attempt to do so, I have decided to focus my EE on the affect of fictional literature targeted towards young audience, including children’s books and movies, on society’s attitude towards sexuality. I wonder if this area of literature ‘normalises’ being heterosexual, and neglects other sexualities. This would be a world studies EE, a combination between English and Psychology, two of my favourite subjects. My next step is to focus my question more on psychology rather than sociology.
