A refugee is someone who flees there a country in search of a peaceful and happier life. Many refugees escape there country due to wars, economic reasons, political reasons or to seek asylum. Like such refugees, there are also those that have to leave their country because of climate change.

Before learning about climate change refugees I didn’t really think much of it, after reading various articles I have realised that so many people are suffering from the effects of human actions. Due to increased carbon emissions and rising temperatures, islands are slowly sinking, erratic weather is becoming a huge issue, floods, tropical storms and natural disasters are more prone. These low income or LEDC (low economically developed countries) are having to face the harshest consequences that are our doings. Globally we have done this to earth and people who haven’t contributed to carbon emissions are the ones who suffer most.

Globally we need to band together and figure out a way to stop climate change and to help those who are losing their homes due to it. Day by day ice caps is melting as temperatures rise. In fact since 1990 just 30 years ago the sea levels have risen by three millimetres. Governments and people of high power need to be aware and address the issue of climate change. I believe that we all need to do our part but I think that the people of a higher power have the highest ability to help.

I believe that the world needs to be aware that climate change refugees exist and they need to understand who these people are, I know that before learning about this I was completely unaware and uneducated about these people.
