Hi! A few weeks ago, I had the absolute privilege of visiting Daraja Academy in Nanyuki, Kenya. Daraja is an amazing school dedicated to bringing education to girls who otherwise cannot afford to attend secondary education for whatever due reason. The school provides their girls with all the supplies they need for their time in Highschool, as well as a short period after that (the transitional period) where they get ready to take on the real world, including a four-year scholarship with food, dorms, clothes, stationery, backpacks, etc. to make sure they are getting the education they deserve without having to worry about financial situations or accessibility to certain things.
Here are two videos that have a further discussion about my trip. The first is focused on LO#6, Global Value, and the second is focused on LO#7, Ethics.
Hi Snigdha,
I am really pleased that you kept this reflection longer. It really shows your passion for working with Daraja Academy.
You mentioned that you felt that your contributions were perhaps not as significant as you would like. Is there anything in particular you would suggest that could be included on the trip itinerary next year?
Can we share your thoughts on the Daraja blog?
