Meeting with Anglican Care Centre (Hougang)

Today, members of our service had the opportunity to meet with people from Anglican Care Centre. We watched a video to gain a basic understanding of the services ACC provides for its members. The best outcome of this meeting was the chance to ask any questions we had about the lessons and other aspects.

In our questions we were able to learn:

  • It is good to repeat skills as some members may forget the skills they develop
  • Members have access to computers at ACC, however, they are windows computers so preferably we should teach members skills that are transferable outside of our session
  • Members like to have ‘Kahoot’ and ‘Quizlet’ quizzes to help consolidate their learning from each meeting
  • We can teach search engine functions and things such as youtube
  • It is good to start from the basics
  • Members have chosen to attend our session
  • Members tend to prefer to work with one person as they become used to working in such a way and gain familiarity

In addition to these learnings, we also learn a variety of other more specific details such as the rough amount of people attending our sessions and where we will meet etc.

Our first session with our partners is set to be after the October break as we have Culturama and other events preventing us from convening. We are going to continue planning all of our session set for after the October break over coming weeks.
