Week #10 S.W.O.T Analysis

After 5 successful sessions of teaching our clients several computer skills amongst several different computer applications, we had another planning session to plan for the following several sessions. We started off by reflecting on everything that had happened in our last 5 sessions. We discussed what went well, where we experienced difficulties and what modifications we could make in the sessions to come to avoid facing the same difficulties and improving the experience of ourselves and our clients.

Next, we made pairs or groups of threes and started planning out the next 5 lessons to come, our goal being that of building onto the information and skills that we had transferred till now.

Week #9 Power Point Presentation – Darsh/Keiron/Vanshaj

 

Today we learned about power point presentation,

Learning objectives:

  • How to change fonts and colours of the writing.
  • How to create new slides in power point presentation.
  • How to add images and videos into a powerpoint presentation.
  • How to use transitions and video effects.
  • How to use smart diagrams to convey a message.
  • How to present a presentation in front of the public.

Week #7 Spreadsheet pt 1 – Idan/Agasthya

Spreadsheet pt 1 Summary:

  • Looked at the basics of the spreadsheet.
  • Looked at rows and columns and how to identify them.
  • Covered how to write numbers inside the cell
  • How to edit the size of the cell
  • How to input numbers and do simple calculations
  • How to add different numbers together
  • How to subtract numbers from each other
  • How to do average from one set of numbers.
  • How to find a minimum number from a dataset
  • How to find the maximum number from a dataset
  • How to edit text inside the cells and customize it.

Week #6 Word Document – Mikhail/Victor

Word Document with Mikhail and Victor:

What was covered:

  • How to type on the keyboard.
  • How to do simple editing of text such as font, colour, size, bold italics and underline.
  • How to do bullet points, number points.
  • How to edit text to be in a different part of the screen, such as middle, left
  • How to add videos and images into the word document.
  • How to present different ideas on word
  • How to make drawings and display ideas
  • How to save word document
  • How to open  word document
  • How to install word.

Week #5 Using Gmail – Armaan/Suhas

Using Gmail Session with Armaan and Suhas:

  • Covered the basics such as creating a Gmail account
  • Learning about how to compose an email
  • How to navigate the three tabs Inbox, Promotions, Social
  • How to navigate and send to specific email addresses
  • What does CC, BCC, TO, FROM mean in terms of email terminology
  • Sending an email to another recipient
  • How to classify email as spam
  • How to delete an email
  • How to send an email
  • How to use g-chat

Week #3+4 Continuation of Presentations + Creation of Service Blog

During week 3, 2 things happened during the service session. The first thing was that Victor and Darsh went to the digital class on creating a blog and getting around using it. The other part was the rest of the group continues to work on the document with one of the groups performing the following week.

Victor And Darsh:

  • Learned how to operate the portfolios.uwcsea.edu.sg domain.
  • Learned about the operation of the WordPress site
  • Decided to keep a weekly blog where we would summarise what is going on in the service.
  • We learned about the website and what makes things tick.

The rest of the group:

  • Continued to work on their presentations for the next week.
  • Prepared the brochures and the presentations to show to the people the next week.
  • Reflected on areas for improvement.

Week #2 A visit to Hougang Care Center

The second session of the service we went to the Hougang care centre to see the kind of conditions the people are in and what kind of skills we could help teach them when they came to our school UWCSEA.

In the session we discussed the following:

  • What kind of mental conditions/disabilities they have and how to approach them.
  • The level of the skills they currently have.
  • What workshops the school group ran previously.
  • What difficulty do we teach them at?
  • How responsive are they during learning is there anything we need to know about.
  • How many of them there are going to be.
  • How many laptops and pieces of equipment we are going to need.
  • What kind of student to person ratio we are going to have.

Week #1 Introduction to Hougang Computer Skills Development

  • We did some learning about the Hougang Care Center.
  • We chose our service leader which is Aayush Dutta
  • We chose the secretary which is Victor Schneuwly and Darsh Patharkar
  • We all decided on what our presentations are going to be about.
  • We are covering topics such as word document, Excel, Gmail and etc…
  • We made sure that everyone knows the date of their presentation and that it is easy to follow along and read.
