Weight Training – Final Reflection

Weights Training Final Reflection

After 2 seasons of weekly weights training, I have found this activity to be most rewarding and beneficial. With reference to LO2, I began this activity with not much experiencing in lifting and consistent gym, but over time, I have not only progressed in skill, I have also developed a strong interest in gym.

I have always been into keeping active, but I lacked knowledge on how to properly train in the gym. This activity posed some challenges at first – including the initial ‘imposter syndrome’ upon entering the gym – and some weeks I found myself wishing to not go. However, my friends in the activity did not fail to encourage and support me throughout the season, until it became something I looked forward to each week. My progress and muscular strength was another motivator for me; where I began squatting 5kg to now 30kg on the bar. I have even applied what I have learnt to my own workout schedules and formatted similar workouts to do during the December break at the school gym. I now feel even more confident stepping into the gym and trying new workouts to help improve my fitness, which is especially crucial in ensuring that I remain safe. This experience definitely launched my passion for working out and leading an active lifestyle – a lesson that I will keep with me the rest of my life.

Approaching the end of the season, I have definitely learnt so much about fitness but also about myself. I have grown more confident and patient with myself, and have grown to enjoy working out to help achieve my fitness goals.
