I cannot believe my ears. One of my own people accusing me of murdering their former king. I have only brought prosperity to this kingdom, defeating the sphinx. This must be Creon’s doing. But I doubt myself. I hate to admit it but it is not impossible. NO, I will not think about it. I am the hero which saved Thebes from the sphinx, I am the caring king who has done so much for the people, I knew about this plague before they told me. If this is true, and I am the murderer, then what is to happen to Thebes? Who will take care of my people? I have already promised a banishment of the murder, regardless of who it is. If I am to be the murder, I must follow through. What has this turned into! My pride tells me I am innocent and yet, there is a shadow of doubt looming over me.
