As a person growing up with partial Chinese culture, I have always been told to study Chinese since a young age. I never truly enjoyed that process when I was younger, but I slowly came to appreciate just how amazing Mandarin is. It’s a really old language, and a big portion of the world uses this language.

I do have prior experience in writing in Chinese, but I never tried the traditional method, which is calligraphy using a brush. In this creative activity, I started by practicing using a pen. After a few weeks, I decided to explore calligraphy as a more unfamiliar skill. I think this challenge that I’m taking will stay with me until I get older, and I feel motivated to practice more and become more experienced in Chinese Calligraphy.
