Badminton Preseason

Earlier in season 1, I decided to join a local service that relates to my old interest: badminton. I wasn’t planning on pursuing the sport seriously anymore; however, after seeing the opportunity in the form of badminton preseason, my inner competitiveness and passion made me decide to join badminton preseason with the hopes of making the school team. For one season, I worked hard and persevered in the trainings (LO#4). I started off with a slow start, as my skills were still rusty after not playing badminton seriously for a few years. After consistently working hard in practice sessions twice a week, I slowly regained my touch and gained some recognition from the coach. As a result, I received the opportunity to practice with some of the better players in the team. I was always used to individual training with the coach, but never really tried doing drills with other students. In this experience, I realised that doing badminton drills with students is actually more effective (LO#5). We took turns playing games of 1 vs 2, which challenged the person alone to push harder and improve at a faster rate. Despite all of the hard work and pain required in this activity, I thoroughly enjoyed the experience, and it feels amazing to once again be active with the sport I abandoned long ago.
