Marimba CAS Reflection 1 (#LO3)

Today was my first session playing the marimbas as a lunch-time activity. I have been a part of this since middle school therefore I am pretty familiar with playing this instrument as a group. My friend Jhanvi and I decided to rejoin the activity as it’s a outlet of creativity in the week, and continues to develop our musical skills considering we no longer take Music as a subject in IB. This being said, many of the members were new therefore we took this first session to outline what playing marimbas entails and the kind of pieces we tend to play. We also talked about the prospect of performing in front of real-live audiences this year as COVID restrictions ease up which is really exciting. Along with planning the types of pieces we might play and the general dynamic of the group each week, we also got to play around on the instruments for the last 10 minutes. I am optimistic about continuing with this creativity activity and developing improvisational skills, collaborative skills, and performance skills.
