I had the opportunity to attend a Lean In event at the Facebook Asia Pacific HQ on tackling unconscious bias with Christina Liew. Ms. Liew previously worked with UN Women and currently works with Lean In. At the event, I was able to talk to several women who work in different fields and understand their experiences in the workplace. We were also given different workplace situations to discuss and think of solutions for, like female employees struggling to ask for a raise or comments being made on a female employee’s presentation style. It helped me understand that a lot of things that I would see as “normal” or “acceptable” may actually be harmful.
