On the 1st of September 2019, I attended the UWCSEA IFP (Initiative For Peace) conference. I went in not really knowing what to expect, but I was curious to find out more as I was interested in joining the activity.

The day was full of collaborative activities and discussions on what is peace, what it means to us, the notion of tolerance and what it means to be a UWC student. The conference wasn’t focused much on the issues surrounding peace in the international conference areas as I was hoping. However, it did give me a broader perspective as to what IFP is about and what it might entail over the course of the year.

Seasons 1 and 2 are reserved for training in conflict resolution and peacebuilding. Seasons 3 and 4 are when the international conferences will be taking place. Hopefully, I will be able to attend at least one of them in order to further understand the situation and how it can be resolved. We just had our first IFP activity session this Tuesday (Sept. 10) and I’m looking forward to a great year.
