U19 Softball Reflection(1)

I am a part of the U19 Softball A team, where we train 3 times a week to consolidate and improve our skills on fielding, base running and batting. I started playing Softball when I was 8 years old and I have since had a passion for the sport. I have been a part of the school softball team since Grade 8. Improving my skills at the B team for 2 years and then in the A team for 2 years to compete at a higher level.

Even though the season of the Softball is short and only about 1 month. We train hard with commitment and dedication in order to compete in the SEASAC (South East Asia Student Activities Conference) tournament where an international school from all over South East Asia, such as Thailand, Myanmar, Malaysia meet at host school to compete. Winning this tournament is where we set our goals at since we have won this tournament 2 years in a row.

Throughout the season we also compete in the ACSIS league games, a league for international school within Singapore. Also, taking part in the Rudy Beck tournament which is in honour of Rudy Beck who use to work for UWC and helped start up the Softball programme on both campuses.

As a result of our hard training and dedication to the sport, we were able to clinch the 1st place finish making it 3 years in a row where we have won the Rudy Beck tournament.

Through this experience, I was able to identify my own strengths and weaknesses in the sport and strive to improve for the SEASAC tournament. Also, made me realise the importance of never giving up as a team and working as a team in one of the games where we were 8-0 down in the 2nd inning and brought it back to 14-12.
