Pottery (2)

In this session, I continued to make new pieces, working with the clay. I worked on mainly on making 2 differently shaped pieces to develop on the skills required to manipulate the clay.

First, I made an owl sculpture by digging into a block of clay and shaping it. Originally, it was only going to be sculpture but I later changed it so that a candle could be lit inside of the owl. The light will exit from the numerous holes that are on the back of the owl and the eyes of the owl. This choice was made as it was close to Halloween then and it would be an interesting idea to pursue.

Secondly, I made a large toothbrush holding sculpture in the shape of a body. I got inspiration from an online site where people posted their pottery ideas. I used a different skill of coiling up the clay to make the pot-like shape and used my fingers to smoothen out the sides.

In this session, I developed my skills in making a clay piece by using two different techniques that I learnt in the session which enabled me to growth personally skills.
