GENERATION EDUCATION PERIOD: CAS REFLECTION 2

As we end season 2, GEP has accomplished a lot considering how lost we were during the start of the year. In today’s session, we had a presentation by Freedom Cups. A Singapore-based NGO that aims to make “menstruation more manageable.” Rebecca Paranjothy, a co-founder, spoke to us about their buy 1 give 1 model and how we can help make a change in the pressing issue of period poverty. Further, she truly opened our eyes to how severe the issue is. Through the vivid stories she told us and the jaw-dropping endeavors, we were inspired to keep fighting for our mission.

This experience as a whole taught me how significant this issue is on a global scale. It is often masked by MEDC’s but is one of the most prevalent in many nations. Additionally, through the personal encounters Paranjothy told us, I realized the ethics required when convincing individuals to use menstrual cups and teaching them about their bodies. “You must be respectful, you are a foreigner after all,” she stated.
