Reflecting on my first oral practice (The Crucible)

ELP

Reflecting on my first oral, I think there were many areas in which I could improve. One was the lack of addressing the audience. My oral was mainly devoid of any mention of the audience, and the first mention of them only came during when I was questioned. It was a similar case for addressing Miller and his perspective. While there were some mentions of him in the beginning, I did lack it throughout my presentation and only started mentioned him again during the Q&A. I also need to refer to the context of when the book was written (the early 1950s, McCarthyism), and connect it to the context of the book (Salem witch trials). This one, yet again, was only mentioned during the Q&A. There was an overall lack of mentioning and linking back to the global issue as well. Most of all, there was an overall lack of practice before engaging in the oral. Quite a few things that I addressed during the oral were purely spontaneous, which overall depleted the level of detail I was engaging in. On the bright side, these are issues that I could address easily. All I have to do is, well, do what I didn’t do; as simple as that. While the results were not amazing for this specific practice oral, I still believe I can do well on my next one.
