My research will be on the topic of the mass persecution of Japanese Christians during the Tokugawa Period (1603-1868). As of now, I would like to look at the effectiveness of the Tokugawa in destroying such a rapidly growing religion. One of my main problems with this topic is the finding of sources. I have noted down historical texts but it is hard to get a copy of these sources. I plan to use the school’s resources such as our library and the many journals we have access to. However, there are certain books that are only available elsewhere. Something I have found useful is the EE template provided by my history teachers. I have used this template to fill in information about sources, supervisor meetings and research questions. It is a very organized document that I can come back to when continuing my research in order to jog my memory. It also prompts me to question the values and limitations of certain sources.
