EE Reflection 1

I am fascinated by the complexities of the Indian economy. Initially, I wanted to research game theory in the oligopolistic cement market of India. However, after an initial inquiry, I realised it would be challenging to prepare the payoff matrix given a limited ability to find information. I then spent considerable time trying to find a novel topic with accessible data that I could analyse. I also discussed with my brother-in-law, who has a pulse on the Indian economy, and eventually switched to Market Failure, shortlisting a relatively unexplored idea regarding the plastic ban in Karnataka. Deciding my topic would not have been possible without effectively communicating my ideas with family members and my supervisor, and obtaining their feedback. Additionally, I realised through trial and error that when trying to obtain data, one must narrow the scope of online research by using relevant keywords. This helps make the inquiry more efficient and avoids information paralysis.
