This year I’m in the musical AIDA, playing the role of a Nubian woman.

I joined AIDA mainly because of the amount of fun I had in the previous musical Jesus Christ Superstar. In this musical, however, I’m more involved in the dancing side than music. At first, I was a bit upset about this as singing and music is my forte, but I realised that as I’m already in the school singing group, exploring dance further would be interesting and would build and expand my skill set.

I, along with another student, am responsible for choreographing an East Indian dance for a party scene in the musical. As I’ve reflected in my Culturama post, I have always enjoyed dancing casually, but haven’t really gone into it in a more ‘professional’ way. However, I’m quite enjoying building my skill set in choreographing and performing dance, and am excited to see where the musical experience takes me
