Bersama – 1st CAS Reflection (Creativity)
When I first got the opportunity to join Bersama, I was one of the only guys apart of the group. As someone who enjoys singing songs with a strong bass-tenor vocal, harmonizing with an ensemble, in which everyone is singing at a different pitch, the pace proved to be harder than I thought. One of the very first songs that we have prepared for Wavelengths, Light in the Hallway, required the bass singers to sing a different melody to that of the main melody. Relating to Learning Outcome 2, initially, learning how to harmonize with others while only singing the bass melody proved to be a challenge. However, relating to Learning Outcome 5, working together and having various melodies within one song made the song truly stunning to listen to (have a listen in the link below). From our beginning lessons in individual ITP rooms to performing virtually – being apart of Bersama (especially during COVID-19) has been a truly fun and interesting experience.
