A (Activity): Swimming – Season 2 summary

The second season of swimming has been more eventful in terms of competitions and intensity of training. We had 2 main competitions recently HS ACSIS and Short course nationals (We also participated in the relays for IASIS exchange). The beginning of the swim season tends to be all short course competitions, this works well to my advantage and I love this type of racing. I need to go into the long course season with the same motivation and carry over all the skills that I have developed and enhanced over time. HS ACSIS, both boys and girls were able to win, In comparison to the other school’s girl swimmers UWC-E had a disadvantage and were expected to place 3rd, the fact that we came first makes me so immensely proud of all of them and our combined efforts. In terms of SC nationals, it was a good chance to race against some of the best (Joseph schooling being one of them). I was able to make finals for both of my main events (100 Fly = B-finals and 50 Fly = A-finals), this is a massive step forward for me. So many years I had the mindset that I was never good enough and that I was not going to get anywhere in this sport, I wanted to quit completely 3 years ago and therefore withdraw from any competitions for that year and just trained for myself. The amount of support and passion from my swim coach and the team is something I am so grateful for. I am slowly but surely progressing in swimming right now going into the long course swim season with a positive outlook and excitement. I do have certain mental blocks when it comes to swimming and this is something I need to work on in order to enhance my performance and believe in myself. On December 6-9th we are traveling to Bangkok to compete in a competition called Feeding Frenzy, this is a competition that we bring all ages to, therefore it is a team bonding for us at the same time. Moving forward I need to ensure that I continue with my goal setting and keep the communication with my coaches up.
