A (Activity): Swimming – Australia training (Christmas break)

Over the Christmas break, I trained in Australia with one of my teams back home (Gold coast). I train there each time I go back in order to maintain my training and go back into each season feeling strong in the water. This time I was fortunate to train alongside one of my teammates from UWC as well (Ruby). We both did a week there, meaning 7 sessions. Training with Miami made me realize how high the standard is in the swimming industry. As an international school our swimmers try our best to train normal club standards and as if we were not part of a school, however removing yourself from the Singapore swimming environment and pushing yourself to train with some of the state champions in Australia is something eye-opening and amazing to experience. It comes down to the fact that some of our best swimmers here are average if not considered slower in other training environments. The training standard and turn around times, in general, were very hard for me and forced me to a point where I had to push myself and my training standards. The maintenance of training through a crucial training cycle is what allowed me to come back into a new season feeling somewhat good and confident in my skills that I have developed.
