Having submitted the final draft of the EE, I can honestly say that I am extremely glad that I followed through which the idea that I felt the most passionate about. Going into this, I knew that I personally believed that Barbie is a feminist icon, however from a more academic standpoint I was unsure. My research process was complex, and I found a wealth of information and perspectives that I had to analyse and evaluate in order to provide the most accurate and relevant details in the essay itself. To do so I had to be able to remove my own personal bias and look at the facts objectively and with a critical focus. In doing so I was not only able to confirm my own perspective that Barbie is in fact a feminist icon, but strengthen my certainty in it. The process of writing this essay has not only improved my skills as an analytical writer, but has also helped me to understand how to research well and chose my examples deliberately.
