The final season of service, and my last at UWC, was quite different from every season of Service I had done previously. We no longer could continue physically meeting with those at Hougang Care Center due to the circuit breaker lockdown. We were all forced onto online learning and it was no different for Service. Being in this position, we employed a lot of resilience and brainstormed ways we could still interact and help those at Hougang, which is when we came up with the idea to record videos every week of various activities they could perform to stay healthy and moving whilst in lockdown. Every week, we would send a couple of videos of us performing various exercises that those at Hougang could try themselves. I was a part of the group that made these videos and sent them to Hougang. This was a new experience for me personally, recording myself teaching exercises, however, it was quite simple and I enjoyed thinking of new exercises to teach to help them stay active. It definitely was great to see the other videos students had made as well, and ironically being so distant from those at Hougang made me realize and reflect on how important our activity was in not only helping the people at Hougang physically but also mentally as they thoroughly enjoyed it. In the future, I will definitely be interested in taking part in similar activities like this service.
