I joined the same service that I was in last year (healthserve), however our goals for our end product changed at the end of last year, from helping migrant workers integrate into Singaporean society to helping migrant workers in our school integrate into our school community. Due to this, the name of our service was changed to “Capturing East”, and it became a college service.

This year, only 4 members including me joint from last year’s cohort, and those who are new to the service are in grade 10. This means that they only need to do service for half a year. This change has pushed me to take more initiative into the service, as I now have to guide the grade 10 students through the process of creating an exhibition. Many a time, I have to also try and motivate them to try and reach the end goal we had set last year, as since they haven’t been through the struggles that we had last year, they sometimes aren’t able to understand the urgency of this project.
