Kahaani ’19 Final Reflection

Kahaani this year was much more enjoyable and fruitful than last year. I think I was able to engage with the dance and also the dance group. Although I was initially confused with the dance, I was able to master it with practice. I think it was helpful to have my friends in the group because we even practised outside the weekly practice sessions. Additionally, many of us were in grade 12 so everyone tried their best to manage their academics well even during long rehearsal week.

I think the most important part of this CAS experience is its underlying cause of this event. The profit goes to an NGO in India, which supports the disabled marginalised community in India. Since this show narrates a story of people’s ignorance and enlightenment towards disability, it informs the participants and the audience the importance of acceptance. I am glad to be part of this production because it supports a good cause, and I hope I will be able to do similarly in university.

Furthermore, the school banned the students from posting photos to advertise the event online from this year due to government regulations. I think this made me re-evaluate the ethics of the choices and actions I take, not only during CAS experience but also in daily life. It demonstrates how each action leads to consequences, hence I must be mindful of those when I initiate service in the future.

LO6: Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance.

LO7: Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions.
