This EE has not only expanded the depth of my knowledge pertaining to Economics, but it has also encouraged me to develop in areas that had been lacking beforehand, such as my communication skills. The most challenging and rewarding aspect of this whole process was collecting primary data. It was interesting to see how the theory we learned about in class did or did not transfer over to real life. Through this process, I learned how to conduct myself in a professional setting, such as my meetings with maid agency managers.
Another challenge was using economics models in real life. With the curve showing abnormal profits for a firm in the domestic helper agency, I had to make assumptions based on limited testimonials from the agents. If I were to repeat this process I would have tried to get a larger sample size. As an extension, I would explore another shopping centre to see if the same trends are found.
