HS Pottery Reflection (LO1)

[LO1] Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth

One strength I believe I have is the ability to learn quickly and follow instructions. For example, I was able to follow the instructions we were initially provided to create a pinch pot. However, since I have not done this much before, one area for development is to be more vocal and ask for help. Just in a couple of lessons we have had, I have struggled with certain aspects due to my lack of experience. For instance, I did not know whether my clay was too dry and how much water is required to fix the issue. Furthermore, after reflecting on this, I have noticed a similar pattern in other aspects of my personal and academic life and hence I can develop this skill in the near future as it will benefit me and my learning overall, even past the IB course.

Another strength I have is setting personal goals however I would like to reflect on those goals and plan them out in more detail. In the initial lessons, I have been able to set a goal of making a pinch pot and then I have planned out how I want to glaze it. However, I failed to look back at that goal in each lesson and I realised that I spent a lot of time on one pot as that was my goal. Next time I will give myself a time frame to get it done and spend time each lesson to reflect and refine those goals.
