Extracted from my notes; here is what I need to work on —
- Australia / Guardian — Can make the link about Australia’s lack of environmental awareness and its long span of environmental degradation.
- Don’t ignore the glossary
- The date of the cartoon – following the Mars discovery of water. Big news and shows the possibility of life.
- Can link technology to the idea of progress. If it’s good or bad for humans
- Link the main idea to the purpose of the cartoon. Like getting the axioms of the cartoon (progress) and asking why it’s important and is being discussed.
- Sardonic = Sarcastic but written
- Anthropomorphism – Shows humans as dogs to show our smart yet dumb nature.
- Used ‘defamiliarisation’ – whereby you take something that is known and place it in a new context (“making it strange”)
- Just look closer
- Link everything to the main idea(s) discussed in the introduction.
Really just think harder about ideas then link said ideas with the craft. Be careful when looking at the illustrations because I miss things sometimes. Additionally, try and really spot check for techniques then link them up later with their subsequent ideas.
