Project week Q&A

Which mentor text (from slide 2) will you use as your model? How will you ‘steal’ from it?

I will use the “video essay” for making a reflection on our Project week with Gilli Eco Trust. I love making short-films of all the trips that I go to so I am really excited to capture the most incredible moments that we spend in one of the islands of Indonesia. Personally, I think these videos can show more how we felt at that exact moment and so our future grade 11s can get a taste of how it is like to work with this GC.

Will your final post be built collaboratively? (If yes, indicate specific responsibilities and timeline)

We will do the video essay and the photo essay in our group and both of them will be done collaboratively. I myself will take the videos and cut the “movie” at the end with all the other footage we have.

Which future-ready skills will you use during Project week, and how can you capture them in action for your post?

I feel like during our Project week, we could use all 10 of these skills to make it a memorable and meaningful week. For example being a critical-thinker can help us get through different obstacles in certain situations. Coordinating with others as well as each other makes the whole experience much smoother and enjoyable and also, being able to make the right decisions makes Project week very effective and of course, a positive experience.

What  do you need to document during the week? Be Specific, create a checklist for you to refer back to. (ex: who will it be important to interview, which questions will you ask?)

We will make a lot of pictures during the week as well as short (3-5 seconds) videos to capture all the amazing moments spent on Gilli island. I feel like these videos can be more reflective as while watching them, teachers or future grade 11 students can feel like they were also a part of our journey. We will document our experiences with Gilli Eco Trust so we can encourage young students to work with this GC in the following years. Also, we would like to share our own, personal stories and memories.

How can you balance what the service provider AND future grade 11s might want to see in your final reflection?

I feel like by not only writing but making a video-reflection as well, people can get to know more about the GC we are working with as well as getting involved in our adventure. On the other hand, while a video captures certain moments, a written blog includes more and more detailed information about the journey.
