So far in our Metamorphosis unit, we’ve been exploring creative interpretations – both our own and Berkoff’s (on Kafka’s original book). Berkoff uses a metal cage as a room for Gregor, and stools for Mr Samsa, Mrs Samsa, and Greta. We tried using stools, but we found that we really liked using a large frame. We can use it for multiple things – Gregor’s room, a symbol of the human world, and even a potato.
Tomorrow, the 26 of February, we do our first run through with costumes and we are off-script. The first rehearsal with this is always a bit frantic, and I hope it all goes smoothly.
