For our Global Perspectives Critical Challenge, this year’s FIB class had to go to Bintan, Indonesia to work with The Island Foundation (TIF) and devise a lesson that they can implement in their work with the community. We made our first trip there a few months ago, where we interviewed local stakeholders and got to understand the needs of the community and The Island Foundation. Having devised a 60-minute lesson that implements 21st century skills (critical thinking, confidence, and collaboration) and encourages cultural/environmental preservation, we returned to Bintan in January to deliver our lessons to The Island Foundation and to the local children.
This podcast is essentially a summary of our journey creating, delivering, and reflecting upon our lesson.
