Woman’s World Thesis Statement

Woman’s World is a novel about the life of Norma Fontaine, the alter ego of the controversial Roy Fontaine. Roy is a cross dresser who dresses up and transforms himself into his sister in order to manifest his grief and guilt of her tragic death. This novel focuses on the role and influence of gender spheres on English society in the 1950s. Graham Rawle presents this by creating a distinct contrast between Norma’s and Roy’s life experiences.
