Six-Word Stories

a)

While the challenge was overall quite difficult, I actually found it really enjoyable. It was a new experience having to write as little words as possible compared to the usual as much as you can. I personally found the story-tweet easier compared to the 6-word story. I think one of the reasons that we were given this challenge was to teach us to summarize. I commonly make the mistake of doing run-on sentences. While I do like to write as much I can, I do not want it to be exhausting for others to read. To be honest, I think my story does not need any extra words. I feel that if I had done so, the story would have lost its flow due to the excessive detail.

b)

“A mask of confidence hides fear” by Arshia definitely peaked my interest. I think this is to express even how confident one may be, we are all fighting for acceptance and to be part of the crowd. Many people may see this from other perspectives based on their past experiences which can affect how they interpret it.

I think Vedika’s story-tweet should be tweeted out

ATL Reflection

Overall, I think I did quite decently for my approaches to learning reports besides several “some”s.  I mostly got clears for my collaboration and communication indicators. However, I got most of the some’s on my self-management indicators. I think this is due to me not being able to fully adapt to the homework quantity. Even though I do try my best to complete all my assignments on time, there are times where I find myself struggling to keep up sometimes. I do hope to improve on this as the school year continues on. Other things I want to improve on:

  • taking initiative in class activities and discussions
  • not being afraid to ask the teachers questions when I am unsure about things
  • be more organized in terms of assignment due dates so I prevent myself from procrastinating and stressing out over homework last minute
  • express my ideas more verbally in class

I wish to able to achieve these goals by next term. While there are quite a few goals to achieve within not much time, I do believe I can achieve them with some resilience and commitment. To achieve these aims, I can get help from my teachers in the subjects I am concerned about and maybe even advice from fellow peers.

Generally, I think I need to reflect on my past assignments and see what I can do to possibly better not only my ATL reports but also my academic grades.
