Activities Executive Committee – Activity (CAS) – Second Reflection LO4/LO5

We have still been working on our trick shot challenge which has taken us so far more than a month to organize. I think this has been very hard because we have been trying to get students to be motivated about something which is not required of them especially during complicated and stressful school times. However, I have learned how to show resilience and although it is taking us a long time to organize and execute than we had initially thought, it has been a great learning experience for me to understand that I have to be flexible and adaptable to plans changing. We have not given up on this plan however we have put it aside whilst focusing on other more urgent events that needed our focus. I have learned that changing plans or order of actions is vital in order to make the most use of our time. However, from this, I think I have also learned the importance of reflection. We have needed to reflect upon why our challenge was not picking up as fast as we thought by collaboratively working with others and changing and modifying our original plans. I think collaboration is super important however not only collaborating why the rest of the people in the activity but collaborating with our target audience when executing a plan because they are the ones who we are trying to reach and we need to communicate and collaborate with them to overcome the challenges we have faced.

Yoga with MINDS – Service (CAS) – Second Reflection

Recording of my second reflection –

These are some photos of our video call session with Mr. Kiat to understand more about the issue, what they already do to help these individuals, and how we can improve from last year’s group. Our goal is to organize more successful sessions this year despite the challenges we may face with not being able to physically meet face to face with them.

These are some early-stage planning photos –

We have not delved into the yoga as for the moment we have been focusing on the issue we are presented with (aiming to use yoga in order to help intellectually disabled individuals in our community maintain balanced well-being as well as make them feel more included in our community despite their physical/mental differences.) This is an important stage of investigating and planning before we actually conduct any sessions with them so we have a better understanding of what we need to do in order to make our sessions more helpful and successful for them.
