What makes the artistic/literary representation of people (or places and cultures) – and their various social identities – so complex?

Literacy can often be complex as there are many factors which are involved which influence the writer and the message they are trying to convey. The biggest influence would most likely be the time period in which this book/literacy was written as the social climate could have persuaded the writer to think much more differently about his opinions. An example of this would be a book which is centered around a certain race of people which at the time would have been seen as very inferior. Because of the social acceptance of this race at the time, the book/article may have a more biased opinion in which it focuses lots of negativity around this race. This means however that the race may not be expressed properly as the writer has not taken into account the view of the people from that race. However, this should not mean that people should not be allowed to express the emotion or perspective about someone/something. Writers should be prompted to talk about these things because it presents a different perspective on things which will present someone with a different identity (for better or worse). This means that no one should be entitled to a specific narrative and it should be open to all for there own interpretation.
