Group session (creativity) L06

I attended a group session with students from the campus to talk about different views and global issues in order to get everyone’s opinion on them. This session was organized by one of my friends and was supposed to be a one-time thing so that she and the others the joined could explore the different opinions that people have mainly to do with global issues.

I think what shocked me the most was how diverse the people were in what they thought, in that, I had assumed that most of the UWCSEA students all had very stereotypical beliefs and values in my opinion. But it turned out that many students did not those stereotypical beliefs and so I got to explore a wide range of opinions about the significance of the global issues that are in our world. It helped everyone bring awareness towards certain issues that if it had not been brought up we would have just ignored.

What I learned from this is that I not so much open in terms of my beliefs and values on global issues. I have a very concrete set of beliefs for these issues that are very unlikely to change. The main reason that I attended was to see other peoples views and try to convince them, there was not much intention of having my mind changed and so in that sense it showed me that I am a very close-minded person when it comes to beliefs I have about our global issues.
