Epic arts end of year reflection

(LO5)

Unfortunately, I would say that Epic Arts as a service this year has not been the most productive. This service is heavily student-led and there have been many challenges trying to advocate when the service had been very centralised on meeting our service partners directly. We had a few ideas on events we could host, or collaborations with the school’s dance or music department to advertise the service, but as many original events Epic Arts had held had been on halt during covid, organising a brand new event has been a slow process. Throughout the year, this service has taught me the challenges of collaborative work, as well as its benefits. Most of the students in this service are IGCSE students. There is a small age gap, and it has been very refreshing to see how they interact with the rest of the school, particularly when we plan the Trivia event. However, as events require a lot of conversation and organising with other staff and departments, I’ve found that it is very difficult to plan and carry out events especially due to a large number of services in our school competing for the same facilities and times.
