This EE was quite difficult in terms of research – it’s one thing to source information from other individuals, but it was extremely difficult to look at Valeant’s reports and make my own interpretations/calculations using the data. There was a lot more in the year end report than what I was used to. I had never been exposed to such a in depth report (considering they’re a PLC it was important their reports were exceedingly detailed). Next time, I would severely filter the information in the financial documents to identify what information I really need and see whether my research coincides with other researchers work/qualitative statements. This would allow a more efficient work flow to go that step further with the analysis – does it confer with what others say, if not, why? A strategy I found helpful in terms of research was writing sub questions to help answer my main EE question – this allowed me to fine focus what it was I should be looking for, and ensured the content related to my EE title. This EE made me question the regulations surrounding healthcare – who gets to decide what treatment we do or don’t deserve?
