CAS reflection – MINDS Tampines,Dance and Fitness Fun 1

In the first few weeks of MINDS Tampines, Dance, and Fitness Fun we have done quite a bit as we have learned a lot about the service as a whole, for example, we have learned about what the services strive to do. MINDS is a training and development center, their goal is to help people who are of special needs be able to get a job in the future. They try to teach fundamental social skills to those who need it. What we hope to do in the service is to interact with the people who attend MINDS Tampines by playing games with them, however, the types of activities we are able to do will be quite different from last year due to many Covid restrictions. Another thing we learned was what phrases and words should not be said to the people of MINDS.  The way we went about this was we had to take an online quiz made by the Singapore government and watch informative videos on it as well. Another thing we did was we prepared question to ask the people of MINDS, and we planned to ask them that session. However, something came up and they were unable to attend so we are hoping to ask them our questions in the next session and be able to interact with them within the next couple of weeks. Some of the skills I hope to improve upon within the next year would be communication, Self-management, open-minded. I would like to improve upon my communication skills because I feel like I don’t contribute enough to group discussions. I would like to accomplish this by improving my ability to actively listening to group discussions. Which will ultimately improve my ability to contribute to group discussions. Something that I have noticed to be challenging for me is speaking in front of a large group of people, and I hope that improving my communication skills may help to improve my overall confidence when speaking in front of people.
